Question:
Can I promote through E-Mail?

Answer:

E-Mail, but don't Spam!

Sending email is a great tool, but don't send email to anyone that you don't already have a business relationship with. If you have a newsletter or e-zine you may promote and link to the classifieds. This can help to increase awareness of the classifieds (important when you first add them to your site) and to pre-sell your readers on the benefits of the classifieds

We do not condone violations of the various anti-spam laws that have been passed recently. Our program strictly prohibits affiliates from sending bulk unsolicited email. We do not want you to just send email promoting the classifieds to anyone and everyone. Make sure that you are in comliance with the multitude of state and federal (or international if this applies) laws. It is your responsibility to make sure that you are behaving here. If we get complaints or find that you are in violation of our policies, we reserve the right to terminate your account immediately.

We specifically prohibit any violation of S 877, the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 and any other local or national laws that regulate email.

Promoting with E-Mail

Do not send a solo email blast promoting only our program. This could be interpreted as having been sent from us, and we do not send or approve os such emails. Email blasts to millions promoting our program will only get you in trouble and removed from our program.

If you send a cold email to a prospect to promote your own business or for the classifieds portion of your site, make sure you personalize the email and let them know that you really saw their site and tell them exactly how you will work with them.

If you want to check your email to see if it will trigger a Spam filter, check out this really great Spam Checking tool. You can send an email to a special address and it will come back with a great report telling you how "spammy" it is based on various criteria. The best thing is that it tells you where the problems are instead of just giving you a pass/fail grade.
