Basics: Shared & custom categories

EPage runs classified ad and auction services for thousands of affiliated Web sites. Those affiliates can choose to use our "shared" (or network) categories, or they can create their own "custom" categories. Many affiliates choose to do both.

Shared categories are available to all of our affiliates. Gold Members who place an ad in a shared category have the ad displayed on all affiliate sites that show that category. Gold Members can also view all ads placed in a shared category, whether placed by another Gold Member, or by a Standard Member. Standard Members see only ads placed in a category through that affiliate site, or by Gold Members through any affiliate site.

Custom categories are created by an affiliate. These generally reflect topics specific to the affiliate's Web site - for example a specific collectible item, or a category for a specific location.
