New reproduction item: American Motors Ram Air flapper door for all 1969 Hurst SC/Rambler; 1970 Rebel Machine; and 1971 SC/360 Hornet models that had Ram Air. A used Ram Air system for any of the above vehicles is $600-$900 alone; and that is just for the underhood 'guts'. I hope to have in the near future the vacuum soleniod reproed also for these models. Ram Air is one of the most rarest aspects of these three models. Not all SC/360s came with Ram Air, while all SC/Ramblers and Machines did. The 71 Matador Machines (68 produced) did not stock this option. The 71-73 AMXs had 'cowl induction' not 'ram air' (see parts file on my website for the differences). There are two reason why the AMC Ram Air flapper door had to be reproduced. One is that many AMC fans didn't like the 'CLACK' sound if it opening up when the car was opened up. But the other reason is that many AMC fans simply removed them to get MAXIMUM AIR into the carb! This is the only piece of the Ram Air system that could easily come of. The dome is welded into the hood. The actuator is riveted into the metal. This easily came off by popping two small "C" clips and removing the rod. THIS ITEM COMES WITH BOTH C CLIPS AND ROD!
